Libraries are created to experience and differentiate what public and private spaces are. The library houses a sequence of stairs that are positioned to give certain moments. These moments creates and redefine the public and private spaces. The design of the library shows the relationship of the staircases and the facade. The stairs are the projection of the facade, which creates the trapezoid apertures.

The "Good Food" project was an investigation of how to combine different programs concerned with the production, consumption, and distribution of food in the San Francisco South of Market neighborhood. The Revealed and Concealed concept is present on the exterior of the building, the angled wood louvers hide and protect the double glazed facade. In the interior, the five senses(sight, smell, sound, touch, and taste) are heighten to experience what is revealed and what is concealed.

The design concept was to utilize a central core that would act as the structural support of the children's play structure. The inspiration was derived from a skyscraper where the facade is essentially non structural. Adding a central core helped support the whole structure, rather than defining it with structural walls.

This project's investigation furthers the notion that a close reading of a specific city can generate ideas for the transformation of the city itself. The city here is El Cerrito, chosen for its interesting mix of banality, idiosyncrasy, extreme infrastructure, natural landscape, and fragmented neighborhoods. My vision for El Cerrito was to provide an infrastructure/pathway to the pedestrians and bicyclists. To create a pathway that would be accessible to Point Isabel and the hiking trail.
